Sheamus walked out and said the good news is Triple H won’t be drafted to Smackdown, but the bad news is his career ended “because I made it end.” He said he’s now moving on. He called out John Cena. Instead, Randy Orton’s music played. Cole called it an interesting development. Orton entered the ring and said nobody has despised Triple H more than he has (sounding like past tense in his language), but despite doing terrible things to him and his family, when it was time to fight, Triple H fought him face-to-face. Sheamus told Orton to get out of his ring before he puts him on the sidelines just like he did to Triple H. Orton said he has a better idea. “How about I hit you with an RKO right here, right now and then punt your head off.” Sheamus said, “Sorry, but I don’t deal with losers.” He said he wants Cena. Cena’s music played.
Cena walked out and said there are two people who want to be the no. 1 contender. He said he can’t think of a better time to introduce the guest host. He then did the most humiliating thing a WWE wrestler has ever done, a dance and some hooting. Even the 11 year old kids wearing his t-shirts with posters of him on their bedroom wall cringed at that display. What is he thinking when he does that? He waited and no one came out. He then answered his cell phone. He said that’s why he wears jeans shorts. He made a ridiculous face – I mean “boo him for life he’s such a dork” face – as he answered the phone.
He talked to someone from WWE Global on the phone who said there is no guest host. He said Sheamus is pale, “like a jar of mayonnaise with eye balls and a ketchup haircut.” Cena laughed uproariously at his own joke. Sheamus told him to quit joking because this is serious business. Cena said he was told at the beginning of the night was that the only person who could name the no. 1 contender to the WWE Title was the WWE Champion. Cena said nobody gets a free shot. “You want it, you earn it,” he said. He booked them against each other later on the show. He said they better hope they don’t get drafted. Sheamus went for a cheapshot kick, but Orton ducked and went for an RKO. Sheamus blocked it and bailed out.
Batista made an “unscheduled appearance” and threw a fit about Cena embarrassing him last night. He said he should get a rematch, not Sheamus or Orton. Sheamus walked out and said he’s like Orton, someone who just can’t admit when he loses. He called Batista a loser. Orton came out and said when he was in Evolution with Batista, he had to listen to him whine and complain all the time. Orton offered that if he beat Sheamus, he’d face Batista one-on-one right after and if Batista beat him, he could have the title shot. Batista laughed and said, “I’m the man!” Sheamus said neither of them deserve the shot at the WWE Title. He called them both losers again. Cena came out onto the stage and said the answer is easy – make it a Triple Threat match.
RANDY ORTON vs. BATISTA vs. SHEAMUS
Orton and Batista took turns beating up Sheamus and threw him out of the ring. Then Orton and Batista fought. Orton scored a a near fall at 3:00. Sheamus returned by taking a shot at Orton on the ring apron. Orton rammed Sheamus into the ringpost in retaliation. That let Orton and Batista battle again one-on-one. Sheamus returned and beat on Batista as Orton watched. Orton then tossed Sheamus out of the ring. Lawler said he likes that none of the three wrestlers are forming an alliance even if just for 30 seconds.
They showed that during the break Orton shoved Batista into the ringpost followed by Sheamus immediately charging into Orton. Batista returned to his feet, but Orton reverse whipped him into the steel steps. A lot happened during the break. Cole said Sheamus was enjoying his first sustained offense of the night. All three fought at ringside at 12:00. Back in the ring Batista clotheslined Sheamus. Orton re-entered the ring and went after both Batista and Sheamus. He knocked Sheamus to the floor, then took Batista down. Cole got excited. Sheamus backdropped Orton to the floor, but then Batista surprised Sheamus with an attack that led to an atomic slam. Orton yanked Batista off of Sheamus during a near fall. Orton went for the cover, but Sheamus kicked out.
Orton turned to Batista as he entered the ring and gave him a DDT. Orton pounded his fists into the mat. Sheamus blind-sided him with a running knee to the head. Sheamus picked up a limp Orton, but Batista recovered and speared Sheamus for a very near fall. Orton came back and cleared the ring of Batista and then hit the mat again to set up his RKO. He delivered it. Edge, though, charged into the ring and hit Orton with a spear. Edge bobbed his head in satisfaction as Batista draped his hand over Orton’s chest and the ref counted to three. Striker said, “Let’s not forget Edge’s history with Randy Orton.”
WINNER: Batista in 16:00
