Randy Orton’s music hit to bring out Orton. Orton looking much more tanned with shorter hair. The announcers plugged the “WrestleMania worthy” Cena vs. Hunter match to come tonight.

WWE champion Sheamus vs. Randy Orton — non-title match
Orton was the default babyface here with the audience firmly behind him. Sheamus cut off Orton’s early advantage as they set a slow pace. Sheamus teased the bicycle kick, but Orton ducked and teased the RKO, but Sheamus ducked and rolled to the floor. Orton stood tall in the ring as they cut to a break.

They returned from break with Orton stomping on Sheamus’s body. Mild pop for the Orton Stomp. Ted DiBiase then walked out down the entranceramp. Cody Rhodes followed from a distance. Meanwhile, Sheamus attacked Orton from behind and executed a backbreaker to take control of the match. Orton quickly regained control with a textbook standing dropkick followed by multiple stomps to the mid-section. Orton then pounded the mat looking to set up the RKO, but Sheamus awkwardly blocked before awkwardly rolling to the outside. Orton then shoved Sheamus shoulder-first into the ringpost and rolled back into the ring. DiBiase tried to grab Sheamus, but Sheamus smashed him to the floor. Cody then grabbed Sheamus, which the ref saw and called for a DQ on Orton.

Post-match:
DiBiase entered the ring and played the blame game pointing his finger at Cody. The fans chanted, “RKO,” as the pupils continued to argue with each other. Orton then dropped Cody with the RKO out of nowhere. Before DiBiase could react, Sheamus suddenly re-entered and dropped DiBiase with the bicycle kick. Seconds later, Orton dropped Sheamus with the RKO. The crowd popped big for Orton being the last man standing in the ring. Orton sold the crazed lunatic character as he contemplated what happened in the ring. Cue up his music as the announcers replayed the finish with the crowd still cheering Orton.

Winner: Sheamus via DQ at 8:34. Sheamus is officially a lameduck champion at this point, which puts his title in jeopardy on Sunday at the Elimination Chamber PPV. Orton’s teased babyface turn built some momentum this week. We’ll see where all this is going leading to the PPV with DiBiase also involved in the Chamber match.

Apart from Randy’s match I thought without a shadow of a doubt that RAW sucked. The Bret Hart “accident” was just ridiculous and I actually changed the channel. I have a pretty good idea where they are going with that, but the “accident” itself was just hard to watch. Jerry Springer was so 15 years ago; his segment was completely unbearable. So much so that I feel asleep, however, I DVR’ed the rest of the show just in case Randy wanted to make another appearance. Which he didn’t.

The match between Randy and Shaemus was a little awkward at moments, but overall it was a decent match. There were some WTF moments when Legacy decided to walk out and the ending was a surprise. Though like we fans have come to know, if a superstar seems to have the momentum going into a PPV they usually lose their PPV match. Randy, aside from Ted, was the only contender standing tall after his match despite his DQ. I wish there was some sort of follow up with Legacy after the match. I felt like I was left hanging, but I suppose that can be a good thing.

I completely clueless on who will walk out of the EC as champion. I’m hoping for Randy, but I am not going to hold my breath. I rather much see Randy and Edge at Wrestlemania than anything else. I am all for a Legacy feud, though I rather see it play out on RAW. My expectations for EC this weekend is to have Shaemus drop that title. Randy would be lovely, but you have to account for the HHH factor. Cena is going to feud with Batista, Kofi…yeah no, Ted…he’s just not ready. So that leaves Randy and HHH. Who will be champion? The WWE has been throwing curve balls lately so I have a feeling that the outcome will be a surprise. Whether or not it will be a good one or a bad one will be up for debate.

Honestly, Im just SOOOO glad that Randy is getting the crowd pop and the respect as a WWE superstar that I feel he should’ve been receiving since Evolution. It used to kill me back in 2003-07 when people would just boo him all the time as If he didn’t matter and didn’t count. But now people chant for the RKO, and they get behind Randy just cause he’s such a bad ass wrestler and in my opinion, in the top 3 best in-ring performers of this generation.

Well, I am both pleased and annoyed.

Let me get the negative out of the way quick. Of course, as predicted by many on here last week, Randy got the upperhand just like last month before the PPV. This will of course mean, he doesn’t win at the Elimination Chamber. I wasn’t expecting him to win regardless but I just hate how predictable the WWE is when it comes to the RAW before a PPV.

The positive though from this episode was RAW was the amazing reaction Randy got. Not just a pop because he was facing Sheamus but a major pop throughout the match, an even bigger one when he gave Cody the much deserved RKO and even bigger one when he gave the same to Sheamus. The audience was going crazy. It was as much near a face turn as we will more than likely, ever see. While the jury is still out for me personally on whether or not I ever want to see Orton as a face, this moment was great. I loved every minute of it!

Oh and if anyone needs to see the RAW moments that only involve Randy:

Why wasn’t the comment thread open earlier? Anyway…Yes…Jerry segments was too corny for words. All right, so Santino was funny, but the whole things is just…awful. Of course, I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it here before but Bret’s accident, it’s just gonna lead to a Vince rep. by Batista vs Bret rep. by Cena match…which will be equally boring as an actual Vince vs Bret match.

Anyhoo….Opening the show with an Orton match definitely AWESOME! That’s how you do it writers! Not with some boring segment from guest hosts–unless Randy’s included in the segment. Would’ve loved more Randy and Legacy bits through out the show though. Nonetheless, it was great opening match. He got DQ again, because of Cody…(strike two Codes, one more and you’re out…) and what’s with Ted blaming Cody now? Didn’t he come to his rescue last PPV when he made a boo boo? I think this is the start of a three way split which! Randy vs Ted vs Cody.

I love the crowd reaction for Randy…in everything he did. If that’s not an instant face turn, I don’t know what is. Of course it’s great if they make him face but keep his attitude…he doesn’t need to turn into Cena to be a successful face. BTW, isn’t Ted supposed to be the one turning face…what happened to that? ADD again? LOL but it’s okay, guess it’s understandable to think Randy will fare better with the turn…Ted can do it eventually..

I liked the opening match. That’s how you keep the people interested. They see the match and think “I beeter stay tuned to see the follow up”. Even though we didnt get to see a post-match segment, I thought the match was decent. Sheamus did have some awkward moments but unless you really pay attention and are hardcore like us here, you probably wouldn’t have noticed. I think the whole who gets an upperhand pre-PPV is stupid. Although I doubt Randy will win, just because WWE is clearly taking a different route with Orton.

I’m not sure about this Randy might turn face thing. I mean I like that things are finally changing and becoming so redundant every week, but i like Orton the way he is. On the other hand: he is clearly a fan favorite ( i think he always has been, but being a heel leads some to automatically go with the face), and I think he will do really well as a face. Either way I’mm with Orton all the way.

Orton looked hot! Growing out the hair is definitely good, and he still has smoking hot abs :)

Well…. wow I just cut to chase here. I watched Randy ALONE. It was online and the guy cut out the part that featured Randy, so I didn’t have to put up with the remaining crud . Aside from that, RKO WAS HOT!

The match was downright horrible. I’m sorry. I love Randy Orton, and I loved watching him kick Snow White down, but ANOTHER DQ?!!!! COME ON!!!!! Now this pathetic excuse of a wrestler has TWO WINS OVER RANDY!!!! TWO!!!!! Now I’m all up for a Triple Threat Legacy feud, and I still am, but Ted… is he going face at some point? And why in the name of all things holy did he go blaming Cody??? That just makes him look bad. With that RKO to Cody we all know that kid is GONE from Legacy. But now, I feel a momentum DROP for this feud. Nothing’s changed. It’s just a slightly altered replay of what happened at RR.

Now I’m hearing talks about RKO going face, and now I’m even hearing about his face turn happening BEFORE Ted’s. All right that won’t happen. Why? Well, neither Ted or Cody have distinguished characters – we know Ted’s going face becuz of a movie, and we’re ASSUMING Cody’s staying heel. If they want a feud between these guys RKO’s gotta be heel. HOWEVER, if they’re shoving this idea under the rug for now to give a possible RKO (as Champ) vs Edge feud… I won’t mind at all if RKO goes face. If being a flipping Saint = RKO as Champ, then say to hello to Saint Randy!

Now about EC… Sheamus isn’t seen as a Champion, and now he’s no longer seen as a wrestler. In my eyes, the guys a filler – much like Kofi is for EC – and will eventually lose all reasons to be kept around, and when that time comes RKO will be Champ. Bias aside, WWE has gotten predictable, and with RKO coming out on top, he won’t be Champion after EC. T_T BUT I’LL BE ROOTING FOR HIM!!!!

RKO FOR LIFE!!!!

Man, besides Randy Orton’s match, RAW sucked! The whole Bret Hart thing was dumb.
I’m being completely honest when I say I only watch RAW for The Legacy, and ShowMiz. Vince urgently needs to drop this guest host thing-fast. The reason that The Rock and Steve Austin don’t wanna guest host is because they won’t get to do what they used to do, like drinking, lifting middle fingers, etc.
Aside from that, Randy Orton and Legacy feud, Man! I’ve gotta feeling this’ll be a great feud. Really can’t wait.

CHLOE

Thank goodness someone finally agreed with me on dat one.
This uperhand idea before a PPV proposed or invented by GEN & JOEL sounds awkward.
Common guys, lets take Sheamus as an example; This guy had the upper hand and dominated RAW for three good weeks even drove the Host and Cena through a table just days to TLC.
Beat the crap outta Cena and came out as Champ so how does your theory apply to that?
Yes The WWE’s storyline might or have been predictable atimes but at EC,
But its good to be positive and maybe optimistic.

Randy stands a 35-40% of being World Champion again.

And ofcourse we all know that Snow White doesn’t stand a chance at EC, i mean 75% of this guys victory this past couple of weeks has always been via DQ……he’s stayed in the spotlight way too long….he’ll meet his waterloo at EC….no doubt!

Since Sheamus, Cena, and Ted are outta the picture, that leaves us with RKO, HUNTER AND UNFORTUNATELY KOFI!!!…(In his dreams if you ask me…lol)

I would love Randy leaving EC as Champ but like Gen said, i won’t get ma hopes up but i’ll keep a positive attitude to it……and i’m kinda seeing a Rated-RKO clashing at WM26.

Randy was HOTTER THAN A BLAZING BAYONNET….his hair looks nice too!!!
Maybe the Rko on Cody was drastic but the one on Snow white was awesome…you hardly see Sheamus face_down on Raw …lol.

I didn’t invent the PPV momentum outcome thing, it was an observation. Most of the time when Randy has the upper hand on RAW before a PPV he seems to less likely win his match. Look at his feud with Cena last year. Almost everytime he got one up on Cena on the RAW before a PPV he lost the title. Same thing can said with Legacy and DX, CM Punk and Jeff Hardy, Jericho and Mysterio. Maybe I pay too much attention to stuff like that, but it is what it is. It is going to happen like that every time? No, and hopefully it won’t this time.

@Judy:

It was so weird hearing those pops for Randy lol! I have to admit I enjoyed it. I read that Randy said he would never want to be face again, but he’s a fan favorite whether he likes it or not lol. I would absolutely LOVE for Randy to do his pose again, I was wishing like crazy that he would do it Monday. I’m still crossing my fingers that he’ll do it soon.

I really think orton will win as not only is the chamber in his home town all the other big superstars have rivalries just around the corner like cena is going to face batistia fingers crossed batistia destroyers cena also triple h will face Shawn and there is no way that sheamus will walk out the champion and I am not just saying that because I don’t like him but wwe will never let him go to wrestlemania as champ so that leaves kofi and ted and kofi has no chance so that leaves ted but I really do think randy will beat him so I really do hope and pray that randy will become wwe champ once more
