WWE stars tell IGN their picks for Raw Guest Hosts

The WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, recently introduced a new “Guest Host” aspect to their show. And while the gig is sometimes filled by wrestling legends such as Ted “Million Dollar Man” DiBiase and Sergeant Slaughter (and Dusty Rhodes this upcoming Monday) there have been a number of surprising guests from the world of sports, TV and film. The “Which celebrity will host RAW next?” question has done wonders for the show, with ratings climbing up at least 10%. Seth Green, Jeremy Piven, Shaquille O’Neal and Floyd Mayweather have all recently made appearances on the show, taking over the role of “General Manager.”

IGN recently had a chance to talk to a bunch WWE stars about the new hosts at both SDCC ’09 and at the Summerslam/Betty’s Battle (bettysbattle.org) kickoff party this past Friday night. “I think it’s great,” Triple H told us. “I think it adds a new factor that’s a lot of fun and it makes it different every week. I think we’ve gotten some great guests so far, much in the vein of a newer, hipper Saturday Night Live maybe.” Triple H then went on to say that RAW is a great way to promote a movie, a TV show or even a charity – much like Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell’s charity ALS Betty’s Battle (O’Dell will be hosting an upcoming RAW in a few weeks).

“I think it’s cool, man,” said WWE Champion Randy Orton. “I mean we’re out here in Hollywood right now. I’m from St. Louis, Missouri so I’m not used to this sort of thing. Getting to mingle with these guys and our fans seeing that these celebrities are fans of what we do I think creates a cool crossover there where more people start watching our product.”
