The WWE Champion hasn’t seemed like himself since Judgment Day, losing in Monday’s main event and suffering more than a few beatings. Has Batista gotten into “The Viper’s” head?

Ric Flair came to the ring as Jim Ross reminded us that Flair is retired from active competition after Shawn Michaels retired him in Orlando. He said Flair is still a man, though, and he’s going to confront Randy Orton for his sucker-punch last week. Flair said all week long, he’s been thinking to himself that he’s Ric Flair and he’s 16-times World’s champion. Flair said Randy Orton might be champion, but he’s going to take care of him right now. He told Orton to face him so they can at least have it out man-to-man.

Randy Orton’s music hit and Orton came out on stage alone. He asked Flair what he thinks would happen if he met him in the ring. Orton said he would beat him down, but he can’t face him again because he lowered him last week to punch him. Flair shouted over him to get in the ring and do it again. Orton shouted back and said it’s over. It’s been over dating back to Evolution. He said Triple H only kept Flair around because he felt sorry for him. Orton said he’s starting to feel sorry for Ric, even these people feel sorry for him. Flair had this huge bug-eye look.

RANDY ORTON
Although The Legend Killer lost his match at Judgment Day and the tag team match on Raw to Batista, he is still champion due to his devious mind getting himself disqualified on Sunday to retain the WWE Title..

WWE champion Randy Orton came out on stage to a big reaction. One of those reactions where people react to some drama going down to start the show. Orton slowly walked out alone with the WWE Title belt over his shoulder as the announcers talked about Orton trying to do everything possible to get himself DQ’ed or counted out to retain the WWE Title.

After WWE replayed practically the entire WWE Title match since Orton takes forever to enter the ring, he started by reminding everyone he is still WWE champion. Huge heat in the arena. Lights were still dimmed for Orton’s speech. He said he wasn’t just looking to retain the title, but take Batista out for good. Just when he was about to accomplish that, he was stopped …pause…Whoos…by Ric Flair. He should have expected it since Flair wasn’t too fond of him back in the Evolution days because he was a threat to surpass Triple H and him.

Orton said he didn’t mind all that much when he Punted Flair hard in the head back in 2007. Maybe just maybe Flair would have had enough to beat Shawn Michaels at WM24 if he didn’t Punt Flair and be forced into retirement. Still, though, he’s proud to say he’s kicked every member of Evolution in the skull and they’ll never get the retribution they want. He dared Flair to get in his business again. If he does, he won’t hesitate… Flair’s music interrupted right on cue.

Judgment Day 2009 Results and Captures

Screen Captures now up!

WWE champion Randy Orton came out first to defend the title. He was alone. For now. Lawler said Judgment Day is the day you pay for your sins and Orton has racked up a boat load of sins. Cue up Batista’s music after a pause. Huge reaction for Big Dave, who came out on stage glaring toward Orton. He had a noticeable cut on his forehead above his left eye. BD posed in the ring while Orton dipped to the outside to let Batista wear himself out. Lilian Garcia handled formal ring intros while Orton just paced around on the floor. 70/30 cheers for Batista. 95/5 boos for Orton.

Randy Orton vs. Batista — WWE Championship match
Bell sounded and the announcers said Batista was involved in an altercation earlier this weekend. Lawler said he had eight stitches in his eye as a result. Also, Orton dipped to the floor when the bell sounded to make Batista wait a bit longer for initial contact. Orton took a rest on the floor again, then Batista ran out of the corner with a clothesline. He kicked Orton in the back before sitting down on his lower back. Orton gained control at 4:00, then stood over Batista and did the old-school arms-extended pose from 2005. Crowd booed that heavily. Orton grabbed a basic chinlock and Batista escaped with elbow strikes before Orton nailed the fallaway backbreaker for a two count. Orton went back to the chinlock, then Batista escaped, and Orton re-applied. Batista escaped and Orton snapped off a nice dropkick. He then picked up the crowd intensity with that trademark horizontal DDT from the second rope.
