Backstage, they showed Orton, DiBiase, and Rhodes heading to the ring. Rhodes and Orton sported the new Legacy t-shirts, black shirts with bursting flames and an “L” on a shield. A good look and it could do solid merch business, especially given how WWE hasn’t pushed a faction at a main event level with merchandise in a long time.
Orton’s music played as he walked to the ring. He said at the age of 24 he became the youngest world champion ever (in part to wipe out the just-departed Brock Lesnar’s record as the youngest champion ever). He said it was the greatest moment of his life, but it was short-lived because the next night on Raw, his mentor and the man who claimed to be his friend turned on him in a fit of jealous rage. They went to the flip of Triple H and Orton hugging, Batista lifting Orton onto his shoulders, and then Triple H and Batista turning on him as Ric Flair watched followed by a beatdown and a Pedigree. Back live to Orton, he said that night everything started to fall into place. “Triple H ruined my life, so I made a vow to myself to ruin his.” He said he had to wait until he found the talent to start a group of my own and when Triple H was more powerful than he ever had been before and when Triple H had something he cared about more than the WWE Title. He said that began in January when he won the 2008 Royal Rumble. They went to a clip of Orton winning the Rumble.

RANDY ORTON
Though The Legend Killer’s actions were both vicious and devious, Orton certainly got the upper hand in the mind games that he and WWE Champion Triple H have been playing heading into WrestleMania. |

Backstage, Todd Grisham brought in Randy Orton for comments on the previous video package. Well, the graphics were off, the sound was odd, and Stephanie McMahon needed to powder her nose. Okay, he didn’t say that. Orton said Triple H accused him of being a coward, but Hunter is the one who broke into his home. You see, Orton is the one who kicked Vince and Shane so hard in the head that he felt their skulls crack and he put his hands on Stephanie for the RKO. Orton warned Hunter that he better remember who he’s dealing with. See, Hunter wanted to raise the ante, but he’s going to match that. Evil glare in his eyes. Whoa. Orton said he’s going to raise the level of his attack on the McMahon family tonight. Remember, Hunter, you brought this upon yourself.
WWE champion TRIPLE H vs. RANDY ORTON & TED DIBIASE, JR. — handicap match
Orton and DiBiase charged him in the ring before they could get an opening bell, then the fight moved to the floor. Hunter smashed Orton into the announce table, which has taken a beating tonight. Hunter suddenly took control and went under the ring for the hammer, but there was Cody Rhodes with tape all over his upper body to sell last week’s beating from Hunter. Cody pulled out some handcuffs, then Legacy dragged Hunter into the ring and cuffed him to the top rope. Hunter tried to fight back with his uncuffed right arm, but Legacy subdued him with punches and kicks.

Backstage, Randy Orton was pacing around backstage with Cody and Teddy. Todd Grisham wanted to know why Randy Orton didn’t press charges. He said Hunter is a homicidal maniac who was charged with assault, breaking and entering, and would have gone to prison had he pressed charges. Orton said Hunter would have paid his debt to society, but that would have meant he couldn’t pay his debt at WrestleMania. Orton with the ol’ line about wanting to get his revenge in the ring, not by having the opponent in jail. He said it will be Orton Law at WrestleMania.
Cody Rhodes then came out by himself to face Hunter. Chance for Cody to get some spotlight alone. Well, maybe not. Orton’s music hit and Randy Orton walked out with Ted DiBiase to get a closer look on stage. Cody tried to sneak-attack Hunter, but Hunter tackled him center ring and took Cody to the floor. Bell never sounded. He smashed him into the announce table, then pulled out a sledgehammer and begged Orton and Ted to step into the ring. Instead, he gave Cody the Pedigree in center ring. Suddenly, a cage began to be lowered. Hunter chased Orton and Ted up the entrance ramp, then he ran back into the ring with Cody all alone as the cage finished being lowered. Orton and Ted went nuts unable to get inside the cage, then the bell sounded to signal a cage match with Hunter and Cody.
